Route Summary
This is the last part of the 'Alps & Dolomites Pass Parade', a 10-day tour of over 3100km through Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Austria and France, covering 35 passes.

In this route you drive the first part through the Eifel, where you pass the Nürburgring. In Adenau at a coffee stop you can take a look around the circuit if you want, with a bit of luck it will be driven. The rest of the route follows the highway to quickly get through the boring Ruhr area. This route eventually ends in Arnhem, where it started in R01. Of course you can choose to adjust the last part of the route to your destination.

Because of the beautiful surroundings, the well-developed roads and all the beauty that can be seen along the way, this route deserves 3 stars.

RouteXpert Review
The route starts at the M13 hotel in Riol. A great hotel in the middle of the greenery. Just after you leave the hotel car park, you'll soon cross the Moselle and head for the Nürburgring, the gum paradise in the Eifel. The road to it is a nice quiet road with the occasional hairpin bend. The fact that you also have a nice view from those bends is a bonus.

The route winds north through the wooded rolling countryside in which the roads are beautifully laid out. No wonder this is a favorite area for motorcyclists.
Another favorite place in the Eifel is the Nürburgring. Of course not only with motorcyclists, many motorists also blow their rounds on this almost 21 kilometer long circuit. Driving your own car or motorcycle on the Nordschleife of the Nürburgring is a special challenge. Mastering the 20.8km stretch means reassessing your driving skills and yourself under the toughest conditions. It is clear that things unfortunately regularly go wrong, there are plenty of videos to be found on YouTube.
Just after Müllenbach you can turn right to visit the circuit. What immediately stands out is the roller coaster that stands high above the building. At least, so it seems.
At the beginning of the 21st century, people had big plans for the circuit. For example, the fastest roller coaster in the world had to be built to let visitors experience what it is like to experience the acceleration of an F1 car. From 0 to 217 kilometers per hour in seconds. The entire roller coaster was focused on launch and top speed. After the start, there were some turns and then came to a stop on a straight. There, complete with start lights, an F1 start was simulated.
The opening was postponed several times due to technical problems. Finally, the roller coaster was opened four years later than planned by none other than Michael Schumacher. However, due to the problems they still had to deal with, the top speed was greatly reduced from 217 to 160 kilometers per hour.
Unfortunately, this roller coaster cost so much money that it eventually led to the bankruptcy of the Nürburgring, already in 2012. However, a new owner was found in 2014, whose philosophy since 2015 is that the Nürburgring should limit itself to its core activities, the automotive and motorsport. The roller coaster is not one of them. It is decided to break the thing down.
Ten years after its construction, however, the construction has been given a new purpose. In the spiral of Ring Racer, which is 37.5 meters high, lamps are mounted to illuminate the adjacent Hotel Lindner. According to a spokesperson for the circuit, the lighting creates an atmospheric image in the evening. Quite an expensive atmospheric image if you ask me...

After the visit to the Nürburgring, you meander through a beautiful stretch between the Nordschleife towards Adenau. A coffee stop is planned there at Cockpit am Nürburgring. What is also nice to do is to walk up the stairs on the other side of the road right next to the viaduct. You then look out over the circuit, with a bit of luck people are driving and you can see how things are going.

After witnessing the speed demons on the Nürburgring, you continue north, where the last hairpin bends appear shortly afterwards. Shortly afterwards it is really time for the second, much more boring part of this route: The highway to Arnhem. An uninteresting part through the Ruhr area. Busy, grey, grey. Reason to do this via the highway, then you can quickly get through it. As far as I'm concerned, indoors is not an issue here. You drive from one town to another, often equipped with many traffic lights and associated heavy traffic.
Along the way and two stops for a cup of coffee or another snack. Via the A61, A1 and A3 you will eventually arrive at Babberich and Zevenaar in the Netherlands. A few kilometers further along the A12 you reach the end point of this route, the Postillion Hotel near Arnhem. From there you can plan your own route to your final destination.

Have fun driving this route!

Limburg, who thinks of Limburg, thinks of flan, coal mines, marl and the hill country. The coal mines have been closed for almost 40 years, the last load of coal was brought up from the Oranje-Nassau coal mine in Heerlen on 31 December and, as they say, South Limburg was transformed from Black to Green and unfortunately there is still little left. view of this period.

But not only pie, marl and coal in Limburg, but also a very beautiful province to tour by car or motorcycle and enjoy all the beauty that the province of Limburg has to offer. For this, the MyRoute app RouteXpert has put together a Top 10 of Car and Motorcycle routes for you.
